don't get me wrong iam not trying to be a wise ass. I just listen a lot to Hendrix but not that much to Satriani. But as I watched the first minute of this video, it just sounded like Hendrix to me. Maybe there is something wrong with my ears could be possible, my drumer is so damn loud xD

jimi died when i was 3 years old so i didn't get to know his music that well. perhaps your knowledge of vintage music outweighs mine and i look foreward to learning more from such an educated person

It's just in the way how he plays. It comes from sitting alone in a room and play to the records of your idols. Satriani started playing guitar because of hendrix. His phrasing, and his tone is very similar sometimes. Watch 0:35 - 1:20 hendrix all the way!Satriani uses a lot of blues licks and transpose them to their respective adjacent higher strings.

ok listened again. for starters hendrix played a fender strat upside down since he was left handed and taught himself to play. i agree jimi was a genious in his day but he heavily relied on distortion. joe isjust pure tactical. to compare their sound and talents ? i just dont get it. i've been wrong before so if i am its not the first time

it's insane how much Hendrix is in his playing. I don't like the Shred stuff, but he just makes it sound so classic!
